VCAP Fundraiser with Newt Gingrich huge success
We had an amazing evening with Speaker Newt Gingrich tonight at the home of John and Dottie Cox in Hanover County. The beautiful home was packed with conservatives, with approximately 150 in attendance. VCAP is so grateful to all its sponsors for an extremely successful evening, especially the Cox’s and Bob Bailie.
Thank you to all the following sponsors of the event:
Bob Bailie • John and Dottie Cox • Roger and Karen Cole • William H. Washington IV • T. Nelson Flippo • J.A. Hill • Arthur W. McKinney • Alan I. Kirshner • John Kloke • Barrett Capital Management, LLC • Mike Meredith • Congressman Eric Cantor, Chief Deputy Republican Whip
Newt Gingrich participated in a private reception with our sponsor from 6:00-6:30, signing books and taking pictures. He was gracious with the press. Thanks to all the bloggers who attended the event, specifically Brian Kirwin with Bearing Drift, Jim Bacon with Bacon’s Rebellion and Flora with United Conservatives of Virginia. Bearing Drift interviewed the Speaker in private and has the podcast up on their site. Jim Bacon also asked a great question on health care. I will upload Newt’s response in video. The Richmond Times Dispatch and WDBJ7 TV were also present.
We received some GREAT coverage from WDBJ7 TV! To watch there video, click the video picture.![]()
Speaker Gingrich spoke for about 30 minutes and then took questions from the audience for about 20 minutes. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I videocasted the entire evening and will put different segments up on our blog as I get them downloaded. Be sure to watch the videocast to hear what Newt Gingrich had to say and hear how successful this VCAP fundraiser was tonight. Thanks to all of you who attended. Feel free to leave your thoughts of the evening. We would love to get your feedback! It was wonderful to meet so many new people tonight.
Here is the introduction of VCAP and Speaker Newt Gingrich. This is my first time videocasting, so have mercy on me. I think it turned out well considering. I will post different parts of Newt’s speech over the next couple of days as I get them uploaded. So make sure you check back over the next couple of days.

It was a fabulous evening! One aspect of Mr. Gingrich’s personality took me unawares - his wonderful sense of humor! The Cox’s “starter home”, as he referred to it was a thing of beauty and, indeed, a testament to what can be accomplished by individuals in America.
I was pleased to hear him address the scurrilous actions of the Democrat/ics in Congress concerning the War in Iraq and the security of our country as well as the Iran problem.
VCAP did an outstanding job with this event. As I mingled through the crowd during the evening I heard many complimentary remarks about VCAP and its growing status in the Virginia political world.
